As I’ve been playing in 2009, these are the swing thoughts I’ve had when I’ve made solid improvements in my game.
- MY SECRET TO NOT SHANKING: Don’t pivot left foot during swing — this is the most important thing I’ve worked on in a long time. I do this thing where I pick up my left heel and fan my left foot out as I make a transition from backswing to front swing. It causes terrible inconsistency and causes me to lead with the heel of the club…not good! By focusing on posting up on my left leg, turning my hips through, and most importantly keeping that foot stable I do a much better job of getting my hips through and hitting the ball on the center of the clubface. Sean Clement helped me practice that in this video (start watching at about 4:30 when he does the stone throwing demonstration):
